Being a small business in today’s market comes with many challenges. I have been in the sales and distribution business for over 60 years, including 53 years building H&S.


Over the years, customer attitudes have changed considerably. Loyalty and good service often take a back seat to today’s “I want it now” mentality. We frequently hear comments such as: “We buy everything online—if it doesn’t work, we just send it back,” or “I don’t have time to see a salesperson.” Many also ask for extended terms of up to 120 days, along with the expectation of immediate service and support.

 

Despite these challenges, H&S has continued to survive and grow by promoting the values that built our company. We still believe in personal service. When you call H&S, a live person answers the phone. Our team is available to answer product questions, assist with orders, and provide knowledgeable support. Our qualified field sales professionals are available to help customers solve problems and identify cost-saving solutions.

 

We also provide fully managed inventory control programs, convenient online ordering, and a complete online catalog—combining modern tools with the service our customers have always relied on.

 

As of today, H&S is the largest Indiana-based, family-owned distributor in the Indiana market. Not bad for 53 years in business.
