Behind The Numbers

ARE. YOU. READY?!

Sit down and buckle up because you’re about to read THE most exciting article about purchasing and inventory management.  Realistically speaking I know no one wants to be bored with talks of vendor scorecards or inventory turns so I figured I’d try to use this article for something that has a more practical approach both in our personal and professional lives: our mindset.

These days, we’re constantly pulled in every direction—TV, social media, the internet—all competing for our attention, and not always in a positive way. The power that our thoughts have over our feelings bleeds into our everyday lives. In fact, oftentimes our thoughts shape the way we feel. In life there are lots of bumps and things don’t always go the way we envisioned. Sometimes we handle these bumps with grace and we do what we can to find a resolution. Other times, our anger overwhelms our ability to problem-solve.  When we handle unexpected situations with ease, it’s because our thoughts are in solution mode. The situation may be the same, but our thoughts make us experience it differently.

A positive mindset isn’t just a personal thing—it can really shape how a workplace feels and functions.

For example, having a positive mindset can make communication easier. People are more likely to listen to learn instead of listen to defend, they work through disagreements calmly, and help each other out. This makes the workplace feel safer, so employees are more willing to share ideas or speak up without worrying about being judged.

Leaders also have a big impact here. When managers stay positive, recognize effort, and focus on solutions instead of problems, it sets the tone for everyone else. Over time, this can boost morale and help people feel more motivated to do their work.

Being positive doesn’t mean ignoring problems—it means approaching them in a way that helps everyone move forward.

In the end, a positive mindset helps create a workplace where people feel supported, work better together, and stay focused on moving forward.

So what mindset will you have?
